PROJECT

We aim to reveal the late Pleistocene sea level changes (high stands) of the Black Sea and differential rock uplift rate by using the sedimentary record (coastal, aeolian and fluvial sediments). Currently supported by TÜBİTAK-BAS bi-lateral program 220N053.

POLAR SCIENCE

Work in Progress...

ACTIVE TECTONICS

Understanding the Quaternary evolution of Anatolian Basins involves in the landscape response to high-rate tectonic movements and also climate changes. Focusing on the North and East Anatolian Fault zone and East Anatolian basins such as Adapazarı, Suluova, Tosya, Van, Bingöl, Muş, Ağrı and Malazgirt.

FLUVIAL RECORD

We focus on the rivers which drain central north Anatolia to the Black Sea. These rivers cuts trough the western Pontide Mountains and active strands of the North Anatolian Fault. By using the fluvial terrace staircases we look for clues to decipher the driving mechanisms of the fluvial episodes during the Pleistocene. Supported by TÜBİTAK Grants 112Y132, 115Y132, 117Y426, 121Y110 and GEBIP-2020 (Dr. Eren Şahiner).
